About
A Farewell to Arms (1929) is Ernest Hemingway's novel set in World War I. It follows American ambulance driver Frederic Henry and English nurse Catherine Barkley, whose love story ends in tragedy during childbirth in Switzerland. The story highlights the cruelty of war, the power and fragility of love, and human vulnerability against fate.
