1984

"1984" is a world-famous dystopian novel by George Orwell, published in 1949. Set in a totalitarian future, it depicts a society ruled by "Big Brother" and the Party, where everything is constantly monitored, facts are altered, and even independent thought is a crime ("thoughtcrime"). The protagonist, Winston Smith, secretly tries to resist this oppressive system. The novel is a fierce critique of mass surveillance, censorship, and mind control through propaganda.
